Planet Neptune could figure, but possibly renamed in line with Norse/German Mythology.

I've cut off the rear end and am currently fitting/glueing, filling, sanding a 1/48th spare F-16 exhaust.
For my other "atmospheric battleship" based on another Bismarck kit, I have an alternative source of twin exhausts.
While on the atmospheric theme, I have a support mechanism sorted for a 1/400 4 stack destroyer (ie a pop bottle)

Back to the thread....I'll build the superstructure tomorrow morning (out with floozies in the afternoon ), and I've been sorting out the giant skis.

Nazi German colonisation of the Planet Aegir, and ice covered planet with huge "seas" and continents of ice, complete with mountains, plateaus, etc..

The Nazi Battleship Bismarck, named after the famous 20th Century Battleship of WW2 fame, cruised the icy flatlands on skis.

The model has "lost" its rear 15" gun turret (as will it's future-build Airship sister) to make way for the piping, etc., leading/supporting the huge exhaust.

Well I mused all day yesterday, saw a bit of culture down the the Lichfield Garrick, and came to the conclusion that the F-16 exhaust looked a bit big, so ripped off all I'd done so far and will start again with a smaller exhaust/exhausts....I feel happier now.

The lovely thing about whatiffery is that, within reason (  ) it's possible to stick stuff anywhere.
For this "ice world"  battleship, though, small boats are pointless as are aircraft....it needs to be VTOL all the way, aircraft or helicopters.

Small boats on skis? Possibly with sails as the Captain's toy? If this world has no (or little) atmosphere, then helicopters are equally pointless....

I take it from all this that you're familiar with Michael Moorcock's The Ice Schooner then?

That's the Rodney Mathews version: it was quite hard to find! Most references to the book show the Jim Burns version which looks like it's made of bones and isn't to my taste. My favorite is the very old (New English Library, I think) edition with a small, light, almost credible wooden craft on a turquoise ice field. In the days when she did china painting, my auntie did a larger copy of it on a plate and gave it to me: very precious possession!

Never read Ice Schooner but I did read Icerigger by Allan Dean Foster (back in the mid 1970's) that had something similar on the cover. Can't remember a thing about the story! Sounds like the Radish version is going to be a biggy! Look forward to seeing some piccies.
