Missed these before, they'll be very handy if I ever get around to my kit.  Interesting that the missiles shown appear to be Sidewinders, not surprising since they were going for export orders I guess.

I can't believe that production SR177s would have retained that awful looking canopy. I can't imagine why S-R used it anyway, the one on the SR53 looked just fine and must have given far better visibility and have been cheaper and easier to produce as well.

It was the higher supersonic speed kit, they were exploring effects on materials so went with the safe strong structure that could withstand the speed and the heating as they were all aspiring towards Mach3 at the time. Obvious a more practical canopy would be developed on operational aircraft, just look at the SR-187  annd its buck rodgers style rocket ship canopy

Just scanned through parts of that documentary....nice find ! Thanks ! I'm going to watch it in full tonite...but it would be way better to watch with the Freightdog kit in your hands !
