I began this project long time ago, but I was not sure about armament. When I saw this post http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,16852.0 I was sure: GAU-8 Avenger is so COOL :wub:

Carlos, is that 1/72nd scale or 1/35th scale?  Looks good so far.

It is 1/72 (divine scale :wub: )
This big turret is inspired by General Dynamics (iirc) proposal. The luovre you see is the APU unit, with diesel engine, think that radar and avenger will consume a lot of electricity. A point in which DIVAD program was wrong, imho, is that M48 hull is slower than M1 one, so M1 hull is my choice. Comments a wellcome. :thumbsup:

Good idea on the APU.  The real life Abrams now has the APU located in the engine compartment on the left rear corner.

I did not know about this new APU :thumbsup: , I only knew that big one that reminded me a washing machine. ;D
Anyway IMO it would be easier to put it in turret as the main consumers are in turret, this way turret is self suficient :blink: My model would "exist" in early stages of M1 development.
