Fujimi and Zvezda both do it in 1/72, and Academy in 1/48

Both the Fujimi and Academy kits are labelled as MFs, but they're really -bis.

I've been told that's the case as the Academy kits used the Fujimi ones as their basis. Not sure how true that is though.

The Fujimi kit is a bit old and suffers from some inaccuracies, some easier to fix than others. If accuracy is at all an issue for you, Quickboost has recently added some simple resin corrections to it's 1/72 line to address the Fujimi kit's more noticeable and correctable shortcomings:

Kopro did have a range of MiG-21 MF kits, but unfortunately  Idon't thing they went as far as to make a bis variant for that range. It is a pity as the Kopro kits, while a bit rough and crude, are still considered to be some of the most accurately shaped and proportioned MiG-21 kits to have ever hit the market.

Eduard's new MiG-21MF in 1/48 is due out any day.  The Academy kit is pretty awful accuracy-wise.  Probably good for whiffing, but if you want an accurate Fishbed, I'd wait for Eduard.  They're going to be doing the SMT and bis versions later.

The Academy kit is an easy build.

The Eduard owner's editorial from the Eduard web site says the SMT will be out in the next couple of months, and the bis version at the end of the year.  Even better news is that they're doing the F-13, PF, PFM, R, and UM later on down the road.

We who have waited for a good MiG-21 series are currently drunk with happiness over Eduard's efforts.     :drink:

And what's even better times two is that they said they'll release "the type" in 1/72, too!
Now we only need Trumpeter to put out an F-7 family in 1/72 and 1/48.

If it comes out in 1/72, I'll be happy.  !/48 I'm not interested in.

Mr. Sulc announced that they are definitely doing them in 1/72 in his editorial last week.  No indication of when, but the answer was yes.

Even better news - just got notification that my kits have left the building at Eduard and are on their way to me as we speak!  :)
