Allan

here're the nacelles cemented together with weights inside each one
matt grey painted along the seams post initial sanding to check my progress
more sanding later--lots of surface detail will be destroyed, of course, but no matter: it's a cheap kit
I might do the tarp over the cockpit trick with this one too, that way I can fill the two outer cockpits with shotgun pellets to keep it on its nose wheel

Allan

and here they are, gray sanded away and some more glue added as appropriate
some Tamiya thin glue applied to the seams to lock in the joint
more sanding to follow
sorry it's a little dark

nacelle work...used a shim to fill in yawning gaps...then superglued and puttied

Too bad Revell decided to have those moving panels on the nacelles. For such an old kit it captures the look of the He 219 quite well but the gaps on the nacelles really detracts from the fun of building the model. I have one of these kits built and it is almost ready for paint and will finish mine with the nacelle gaps unfilled.

Well now, I've decided to press on with this project and have commenced applying plastic sheeting to the fuselage. More to go and then some puttying/sanding to round the edges. This one may be in Japanese markings and camo. Green spots over light gray or silver might be the go as coyly placed green mottle can disguise many a poor joint line.
I'll go with four engines and may have to adjust (read "cut") the fus length to maintain the 100:85 wingspan to fus length ratio--we'll see.
Many thanks to librarian for the tailplane parts that are winging their way to me as I write.

Allan

with four engines the wing span is 39 cms, which means the fus should ideally be 33 cms--it's 35 at the moment, so we'll leave it as it is

It's a 'Fuhrungsmaschine II'!  ;D

That'll look terrific when it's sorted Allan.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

loads of sanding this arvo under the pergola produces this result, with some more putty here and there....this is a crappy kit when it's all said and done, so I won't be going all out to produce a sparkling model....I'll assemble the wings, sand them and then add them to the fus..the model'll be too unwieldy if I first attach the wings to the fus..note another shim as a gap filler on the engine housing
