ah but it was a lovely day that day and promises to be 24 tomorrow
more skinning in progress, using plastic card 0.5 milllimeter..paint scheme will probably be a simple dark green over grey

All engines will be side-by-side, Tophe. Have started work on them already.

Funny how much they three at the bottom look like cockpit sections from an F-104 !

Interesting project.....a lot of work !

just about finished the fus skinning   now to do some snipping and sanding

Allan

since I last wrote about this project I've been doing lots of sanding and have just about finished the main body and the two booms...just maybe a little more putty here and there, though
just to refresh your memories, this is what we're aiming at

I've chopped off part of the horizontal tailplanes and now need to do a little clean-up

two decision have to be made now 1) what to do about the cockpits on the two outer booms  I could scratchbuild two boom cockpits, making three that have to be made, including the main body cockpit 2) blank them over with some plastic sheet, which will mean some more sanding, and I'm really not too sure if I want to do any more of that 3)cement the canopies in place and just paint over them, with my story being that the glass panels were removed and replaced with light sheet metal    option three is the easiest, of course, but whichever I do I'll have to use the cockpit as the receptacle for more weight to keep it sitting on its nose

the second decision is what to do about the undercarriage, specifically the nose undercarriage 1) only nose undercarriage in the main body  2) undercarriage only on the two outer booms  3) nose undercarriage on all three
I plan to put the main undercarriage under each engine and will have to be careful that they all touch the ground

I have no advice but I'm watching with great interest. BTW the title say's six engines, were will the other two go?

On the back of the outboard nacelles, pushing?

For what my opinion is worth, I'd choose option 2 for the outer booms; 2) blank them over with some plastic sheet, as it would be the more aerodynamic one, OR put some gunner position there, Airacuda-style.  ;D
And for the nose undercarriage, I think option 1 would be too weak, and 3 an overkill, wheels on the outer booms only appear to me as the right solution.
An interesting project, I am looking forward to see more.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Gunners in place of the outer cockpits. Some sort of turrets. Multiple 20mm?
1 front wheel is not enough (unless a seriously beefed up version) - 3 is too many.

Allan

thanks... more comments and suggestions please...I decided to dispense with the six-engine concept and reduce my horizon to four, making it quicker to complete the model...I must admit that I'm leaning towards attaching the canopies and then maybe sanding them smooth...but if I can come up with something that looks like an unmanned turret a la He 177 that might be the go and I can blank over the cockpits and plunk the turrets on top...I can also put some turrets on the main fus too...the nose wheels for the outer booms are really close to the main undercarriage, so just maybe I should add nose undercarriage to the main body as well...and putting a prop at the end of the booms would look great (where would the engines be, then?), but I have only two spare Uhu props and hubs, so will have to use props and hubs from another kit if I want to attach them to the rear of all four nacelles

Allan

if you're thinking, "I'm surprised he's managed to get this far with this project." please don't be afraid to say so, cause I'm of the same view....here she is, with some seams to be sanded smooth and then perhaps a coat of flat grey....followed by, say, Japanese light grey under and dark green upper with white areas under the rising suns, all six places...it's going to be a long-range Japanese plane, but maybe allover pale blue-green with dark green spots using the sharped sprue technique
when I reach the painting stage it seems to me that my airbrush nozzle won't be able to poke its way into all the areas between the engine nacelles and the lower wings, so perhaps I'll use the hairy stick to slap on some paint in those areas of the plane and then cover the rest with the airbrush..do you concur??
here're the shots

Now that is AMAZING Allan! Right up Tophe's steet too.  ;D

Can't wait to see it painted now.

It scares me.  Good work.
Do you have some sort of reinforcing rod running through the wings?
(apologies if you have covered this in an earlier post.  I just skimmed through looking at the pictures)

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You've been reading my mind, exactly my thoughts.

I can actually imagine some Heinkel designer coming up with that
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Oh lord! that looks great, although, i was almost afraid to scroll down the page, looking at it precariously balanced

Yes, apart from admiring your work, I think many of us were wondering how you did manage to keep the aircraft balanced on such a small surface!  :o

I've given it a wash and hopefully I can slap on the first grey undercoat to check for flaws on the weekend
