I've decided to use only one cockpit and have filled the other two seats with 9 shotgun pellets (6 fore and 3 aft) each and closed them up with white glue...interior green on the cockpit sides and a mixture of black and silver for the engines (will apply wash later)...now to detail, to the extend required, the middle cockpit

been doing some cockpit work, the the middle one, which will be the only one, and have to add some rudder pedals and some decals on the panel in front of the radar guy and the pilot and maybe on some of the sidewalls in the pit....how do you suggest I use the decals?.....also a control column...then ding the pit with some silver and matt varnish it

I hope you've got the altimeter calibrated in metres and not feet Allan..............  ;D

It will be interesting to see the finished model, it looks great so far.

Allan

thanks fellows...here's a not particularly good shot of the cockpit and the two greens I'm going to use, the lighter one all over the plane and the darker one for some mottling or patches using the sharpened sprue technique..also some decals I put in the cockpit with something similar on the other side

What's the 'sharpened sprue' technique please? I don't think I've heard of that before.

Beat me to the question

Allan

what you do is sharpen a length of sprue to a really sharp point and then dip it into the paint just so the tip or just a little more than the tip is covered in paint...then you sort of touch the tip of the sprue to the surface of the plane and squiggle it around to make a sort of blotch with sharpish edges..I used this technique on one of my Japanese 1/48 planes.....it's on this site somewhere

I'm impressed with the precision involved in such an operation.  ;D

I'll have to practice my 'Squiggling around' a bit, I can see.
