Ray
I'll be away on hols and can't attend
at the swap and sell I wonder if you could get a 1/48 Fw 190A model for me please and I'll reimburse you?
One of the cheaper, older Fujimi or Hasegawa jobbies will be okay---I found some of the lovely eagle decals that I want to put on the nose
Thanks if you can help,
Allan
in a few days I may mask off the yellow and put on a coat of green just to do some work on it

or Otaki would be okay too for the FW...and
if you see a crappy 1/48 Kawasaki Hien I would like one of those as well
Best,
Allan

I will take a look Allan,

thanks Ray, hope you can help, but no loss if nothing's available
here're some more snaps of the Heinkel with the outer booms' nose undercarriage wells closed and sanded a little and the fit wasn't particularly good...no surprise really as Revell probably didn't make an effort to mold them to produce a closer fit as most modellers would have preferred undercarriage down...and a little sheet of instrument decals that I found somewhere in the modelling grotto...they'll look nice on a scratchbuilt instrument panel

Allan

here's the instrument panel in place...looks okay....what you have to be careful about with painting panels like this is to not overdo it with the bright colors like red and white cause it sometimes ends up looking like a Christmas tree...also here's a Hasegawa 190D I'm working on...I'll add decals with no reference to squadron accuracy just for fun and that'll be the What If angle...

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Allan

thanks Chris, I'm very happy with the progress I've achieved with this plane....here're some more snaps..a few comments: I should have trimmed the instrument panel into more of a T-shape to display the rudder pedals, which cannot be seen now....here is how I mask the canopy with scotch tape and a sharp knife whose needle point I maintain with the diamond file...the propelling pencil is to press the tape up against the canopy framework

NARSES2

Interesting you sharpen the blade Al. Do you use an ordinary scalpel type blade or another type ?

I was so pleased by your triplex-boom Lancaster that I invented a twin-boom derivative, see at http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,20326.2505.html
Thanks!

the knife I use for masking I bought in a shop in Bangkok many years ago and as you  can see it comes with three interchangeable blades that are bloody sharp and pointed.....they'll have to be thrown away sooner or later once they get blunt, but for the moment I find that the diamond file maintains the point quite nicely...I don't remember which shop sold this knife, but as my wife and I will be in BKK for a week or so pretty soon I can buy some more there if I stumble over them somewhere...that is if anyone would like one....and here is another gizmo that comes in useful with putty..I remember quite clearly where in BKK I bought this this, whose true use really escapes me, but as one end has an edge it is quite useful for cutting off a few millimetres of putty once they have protruded from the tube...the other end has a sort of dished spatula....if you need one of these I can get them I think...and lastly here is the canopy painted in grey..I'll use white glue to attach it....and four shotgun pellets each in the cockpit to ensure the plane doesn't sit on its bum

Cheers for the close up shot of the blades Al

Look like standard scalpel shape. I've an oil stone somewhere, maybe if I can find it and remember how to use it I'll try and sharpen a blade  ;D

I notice Zoko Maru (or whatever they are called) are selling some tools now including what they claim is a super sharp blade

well now Ray, it's probably a little too far to go, but I bought this stuff at Hendon Air Museum in London last year at the kind suggestion of What Iffer Nick and it works quite well....there was a modelling show on at the time or an open day or something similar and the swap and sell was something to see....mammoth!!!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
