Just started working on a Sea Control ship as a bit of light relief between the CVF's.

Used strips of 80 thou plastic card to create a block of plastic to act as a basis to the lower hull and then saw, carved, sanded to create the basic hull shape. Created the the hanger walls and built up a deck level around it and then shaped that to match the lower hull. the next deck level that goes up to the flight deck is is set on a different angle so it will be fitted next so that the edge where it meets the lower deck becomes a chine. Flight deck has been cut out so i can use as a template to establis the shape of the deck at the bows and i can then shape the deck to transition between the pointy bows and square flightdeck.
(Photos to follow later)

Once the bows are done its a simple case of detail around the hanger, mark up the flight deck and create the port side sponson under the extended deck. The Island should be relatively simple and the mast can be rebuilt from one of the Sprucan kits.

Now i may try clone this hull, if anybody is interested, It would only be the hull, deck and Island, the details would need to be added by the builder - walkways, doorsm masts, fittings etc.

Consider me interested in any possible clones.

And either way, I'll be eagerly awaiting photos!

A few photos (not brilliant BTW)

Had to refine the shape of the hull to the SCS over the past couple of months, but now thats completed i have been able to sort out the flight deck and sponson, aft lift and the basic superstructure. Strill to sort out the outer skin for the port side superstructure as this will have the openings for the gas turbine intakes cut out of it, plus the fwd lift, bridge wings and of course the latice mast.

I know we have discussed it in private Geoff,

but I am really going to have to take up the whole "Alt USN" and "Alt FAA" next year and build some alternate Air Wings as an adjunct to your builds.

Duncan

Well I'm gradually building an alternative FAA circa 1946 and have some alternative USN stuff for the same period...so you'll obviously be doing the latter stuff ? All I need is Malta class carriers
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

You could, of course, EMBRACE The Manifesto!!!   ;D

Again, Geoff, should you decide to kit this, you know you've got at least one customer across the Pond.

I reject your manifesto, and substitute my own...

Thanks, but I'm up to my EARS in manifestos just now. Can you wait till Friday please?  -_-
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

To reject The MANIFESTO is a direct challenge to it.  Post your's, sir, else you be seen as a pretender to insanity!!!

No idea but I would suspect the USN would possibly name them after some of the WW2 escort carriers that did a sterling service as the SCS is in effect an indirect descendant.
