It makes the Russ almost look realistic and functional, although you'll have to dig up a first gen Chimera-based model for the proper chassis and suspension. The current versions of the Chimera and Russ based vehicles all use a simplified, "easy to build" chassis/sponson system without road and drive wheels. I've had a turreted version of the "Kaskrin Pattern" Russ on my "to do" list for a while but I decided to wait on the new version of the Leman Russ itself for the turret and upper hull.

-And yes, it does look like a bit like the "US style" Russ variants built by Lt. Walke and mentioned earlier in this thread.

A new fighter Eldar model has been released that might lend itself to some conversion. There's two versions available with the same wings and fuselage layout from the same box, the Hemlock and the Nightshade.  The Hemlock has a single fin and a standard Eldar fighter.  The Nightshade has two fins and a pair of extra canards, it seems it is meant as the ride for a new set of Aspect Warriors, the Crimson Hunters.

and the cost of the new stuff is seriously making me think long and hard a bought getting it, at £30 for a codex ( between my lovely wife and my self we don't play 2 or 3 of the forces for 40K, so the cost of staying up to date is eye watering)

I agree with you about the costs, I was a W40K enthusiast but new pricing policies  and new stuff  make me stop.
I found the new Eldar planes out of the Eldar's way    . May be I'm becoming old but clearly it is not Eldar for me.
At least the Dark Eldar Ravenwing is more "Eldar" than this one. And as good for modification and painting delirium as this "new" one and less "expensive" too.
But new times, new players

I know what you mean about the prices, and the company policies decidedly trending towards unhelpful.  I reckon they've got to the 'too big for their boots' stage of company development, and if they don't fix their corporate attitude soon, they'll price themselves right out of the market.  Which I actually think would be a huge shame.

However, I have come across a great little company based in London called Anvil Industry Miniatures:

They make resin figures, and parts that are fully compatible with Games Workshop figures, so much so that individual parts are interchangable - the quality, and design are incredible, and from what I have experienced, better than GW's resin efforts so far!  Excellent prices too...

I must admit out of the variants that are in the box, the Nightshade appeals to me more and seems much more 'Eldar' to me than the Hemlock.  I find it strange that the Hemlock was deliberately designed with Dark Eldar fin elements, especially as the main troop choice. I can't understand why the Hemlock/Nightshade retails for half again the price over the Razorwing???

Price has always put me off GW merchandise, even in the earlier days.  I bought some when I was daft(er) in my teens, but since then I've avoided them purely because of cost.  Although I like this model, I doubt I'll buy it.
