Holy cats now that's gutsy! Looks like you stocked up on putty, Mr Howling Mouse. A good thing too.

This baby's gonna be a winner all the way! I can just feel it!

Now where's my knitting needles and yarn?

Regarding the supposed need to fill this gap:

That gap is SUPPOSED to be there! The radiator outlet is there and the gasses need to be let out. The flaps can open up (on the real thing) and let MORE air through, but the gap should still be there.

At best, just put a little white glue in there and run a damp Q-tip over it to take up the slack. The white glue should collapse a bit into the crack. It'll be fine!!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Whoops!  See?  This is what happens when one doesn't study: the gap, she's a-filled!

I hate to sound like a broken record, and I've always enjoyed watching you work (on anything), but when are you going to stop farting around and finish the World's Ugliest Helicopter?

The deal with the WUH is that I want to do a really good job for the sake of my fellow inmates on What If.  I'd like to do it with enough ugly detail that it lives up to everyone's standards here.  Like a scratchbuilt coaxial contra-rotating rotor shaft and linkage set made of 56 individual parts.  That sort of thing.

You tease, you.

Keep up the amazing artistry.

Sorry, not much of an update.  In fact, I can't believe it.  Just when you think it's safe to hit a model with the primer and move on, you notice further defects.

So, it's on (back) to more Putty-Sand-Repeat.   And the ironic thing is, I'm not even one of those perfectionist modelers who need to have a flawless finish.  To be honest, I usually leave such flaws, attributing the less-than-perfect finish to "weathering/abuse."  That's why I very seldom build the pristine aircraft that some can.

Oh well, back to PSR.  Down to the spot bits and pinholes now, I hope.

Welcome to my world. Stick 2 or 3 more different airplanes parts in there and then putty it ;D :o

Two more stages of PSR since last update and third coat of primer.  It's still not flawless so good thing I do not visit model contests with any aspirations but I'm ready to paint this baby finally:

Damn, Baz - the Razorback Mustang idea looks pretty damn sleek I have to admit.  All the PSR to tame some of those gaps pays off though - your putty-fu is strong, you madman!

Keep up the beautiful work - looking forward to the finish!
