In E.E. Doc Smith's "Triplanetary" (the first Lensman book), there's a very advanced and nasty race of amphibians with very fishy looking starships that also doubled as submarines.

That's a great thinking-outside-the-box build.

Thanks.

I used a mixture of Tau and modified decals from a variety of sources to achieve the Alien iconography.

I decided to go with the less is more approach and not over do the decalling. I have added some decals since the above photo was taken but not to many more.

This has been a fun project. I am thinking of doing another one sometime soon!

Well I finally got off my arse and posted the completed pics of my build.

It may seem funny to some but this build was real blast.

The fun for me is that I never work from a sketch or a plan or any formal design idea, all I have is a concept in my mind to guide me. The build just grows organically, parts are tried and if it looks like it belongs to the concept then it is incorporated. THis method of building is not for everybody but for me it is a way for my artistic side guide me.

I have decided to make this my hero ship and are now glueing parts togther to make an enemy vessel. This will be the biggest ship
I have ever attempted using this try it see method of building so wish me luck.

This is the design so far, some elements might change as I want to go for a more manta ray look.

Looking at the pics now I might have to bulk out the "wings".

From certain angles, that first design reminds me of the Destiny Ascension, the Council dreadnought from Mass Effect.

Thanks fellas! Shows you what time patience and a well muscled sanding arm can achieve! ;D

Not to mention the power of paint and decals to hide things!

Not much will be happening with the new ship for awhile got some other half started projects to get finished!
