He thinks an uprated M113 would have been a better choice that the Stryker and believes the selection of the latter over the former was a fix. Not in itself an un-respectable position, but the the manner and degree to which he goes completely over the top with it, and any number of other hare-brained schemes, has alienated him from just about anyone who knows what they're talking about.

Yes.  Then you must add that he refuses to listen to anything other than his own opinion or the opinions of his toadies and you have the man in one.

The M113 is an excellent APC.  However, APCs are no longer sufficient on the battlefield.   Nor is the M113 suitable for every task.  Thats just the Model-T approach and it won't work in this day and age.

From the explanation on the website where I found it:
Quote
This is a factory concept model from Douglas of the Sky Sentry. This was the Douglas counter- proposal to the radar "Connie" from Lockheed. Its an in-house wood model, with all original paint and markings. It has age-related stress cracks, common to all wood models that are over 55 years old. The plane itself has never had any restoration or repair and it's 100% original. The stand is 100% original, but has been repainted, as have the metal props and spinners (all intact). This model probably came from the Douglas Museum sale back in the early 1990's. Douglas only made 15 of these models, I know of only one collector in the US who owns a similar model and you will not likely see another one of these for sale.

Interesting  AEW alternative.

Is it supposed to have a glazed nose? Why on earth would they do that?

I don't know how accurate/inaccurate it might be, but it looks cool.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
