I'm not quite sure if this one was ever built, but it's either an RW aircraft, a 'Project Cancelled' or a Whiff.  ;D

Whatever it is I can't find any real world pics of it, and I saw this on flightsim.com today.

It's the Caproni Ca 183bis, a mixed power high altitude fighter (with looooong wings!  ;)) and two engines. It had a DB 605 in the nose driving a 6 blade contra-prop and a FIAT radial behind the cockpit driving a big fan to energise a reheat module in the tail to give it a 60 mph boost at high altitudes. It was meant to be armed with FIVE 20 mm cannon, two in each wing and one between the cylinder banks of the DB605.

An awesome looking device for sure.

I have seen this, it was- if remembering correctly a project-cancelled. I lost my bookmarks about 4 months back and among them was a regia aeronautica site that carried a lot of prototype and experimental types. There were also plenty of twin boom fighters and a few ground attack types reminiscent of the HS-129.
Sadly, no proto flying boats or seaplanes in there. If I find it again I'll post the link.

I may have found that site while looking further into the Ca183bis Russ. Was it this one?

[Later] I found this 3 view of the Ca183bis on a French language forum, but can't read any of the text.  :banghead:

I hadn't seen this before. From Lockheed Martin's 2012 calendar, via Flight Global:

An interpretation, wondering if the picture is "serious design effort or is just some computer generated doodling"

You modelled it PACOPEPE? Fantastic, and it looks great too.

Please tell us how you did it.

It is easy, Kit, with Google translate, even if imperfect:

Merci Tophe.  ;D

I used a kit of the Kawasaki Ki 64 "Rob" of MPM Models on 1/72. Modified the final part of the fuselage to install the exhaust of the jet engine. Then, i extended the tips with parts of other kit. I made the air intake of piston engine on the fuselage above the cockpit, and the intakes of jet engine on both sides little behind.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'm sure this site has been posted many times. I was looking for some Chinese and Russian fighter concepts and ...

http://paralay.com/

My picks:
Russian fighter concepts: http://paralay.com/lmfs.html

Russian concepts for very light fighters: http://paralay.com/lfi.html

MiG 4.12 concept: http://paralay.com/lfi_mig.html

Stargazer

Ah... but these are NOT whifs per se. They were genuine concepts from the Russian manufacturers (except for the Lockheed/Boeing AF-XX and the last image in the first link, which shows the projected Vought-built MiG-21 derivatives).
