Probably be easy enough just to flip the wing upside down on a Herc model eh ?

It would come down in a hurry when the flaps are lowered. ;D

C-130 flying boat, anyone?

beautiful!
with engines on top of the wings to avoid spray I guess

Are they P-3/Electra nacelles or upsidedown Herk?

IIRC they used Electra (or P-3) nacelles, same engine/props as a Herk anyway.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Stumbled upon a blog with a lot of interesting illustrations concerning Chinese aircraft projects. The VTOL MiG-19/F-6 is noteworthy:

Another find that might appeal to the Canadian crowd:

That last fighter, the inverted gull-wing job (XP-1?), looks like something you might throw together, Dizzy. ;)

Pictures from the Chinese blog not showing, apparently needs e-mail or so.

Blog seems to have gone offline. Maybe the Big Chinese Brother did not want to share the glorious achievements of the nation's aircraft that never were...?

Captain Canada

Hope it comes back online there were some really good ideas in there !

As an alternative, how about the Chinese "Blue Whale" VTOl freighter from 2013?

"Blue whale Quad Rotor Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Aircraft Concept at China Helicopter Exposition (CHE 2013) in Tianjin. Blue whale Quad Rotor Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Aircraft  will have capability to carry 20 ton payload with maximum speed of 538 km/h. It will have range of 3106 km and maximum ceilling of 8615 m."

...and maybe I have found a good use for an incomplete AH-64 kit:
