Stumbled across this while looking for something totally unrelated.

Thought that the Gannet was an ugly aircraft!

Have a look at the Short Seamew too!   :banghead:

Oh come on! The Seamew is positively beautiful compared to the P139B.  :o

I have always thought that the Seamew was a very cute looking beast.
There was also a cartoon I saw some time ago that explained why the canopy was so tall, it was claimed that a Navy requirement was that the helmsman (ie the pilot) should be able to stand at the ship's wheel.

Me too, and I was lucky enough to see a couple of them fly past at Farnborough some time in the 50s. They flew RIDICULOUSLY slowly, but when you look at the enormous chord of the Seamew's wing it's not really surprising I guess.

I've got a Magna Seamew kit somewhere, and I really should build it some time. A USN one would look good, wouldn't it?  ;D

When y'all talk about a Seamew, I thought y'all were referring to the Curtiss SO3C Seamew, lol

To mis-quote Crocodile Dundee 'That's not a Seamew.....'

The Shorts version might have made a good crop duster! Paint it yellow with spray bars!

Keil Kraft did do a balsa and tissue rubber powered Seamew kit and it flew very well with that vast wing area. It was maybe 20-24" wingspan from memory.

Woah! Fantastic idea there, but there's just something not quite right with the front wheels for some reason...

Reminiscent of the 'podded' front wheels of the Spinner from Blade Runner.

Came across this device while looking for info on HUMA's old kits :-

Naturally it's a Unicraft kit, but it looks more like a Blohm & Voss design rather than Focke Wulf. Never heard of it before, but it's interesting nonetheless.

NARSES2

Great artwork but are the engines running, indeed is it in flight with the cockpit section in that position ? Also it's obviously a drone because if it is in flight I can't see a pilot ?

Finally from the style of the crosses do we assume this is a German Federal Republic A.F. project rather than Luft 46 ?

So many questions.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Reading up on it elsewhere it seems the cockpit was intended to remain horizontal until the aircraft transitioned from the vertical, and then stayed horizontal when landing. Clever but difficult to engineer I expect.

There seems to be some exhaust plumes right at the bottom right of the pic, but I agree that it seems to be crew-less. Perhaps it was an early remote controlled take-off?  ;D
