for my first entry, im going to build a Republican forces Curtis SOC-3 Seagull.
the model i will be using is a Hasegawa 1/72 SOC-3 kit, as decals are very sparce arround here, im going to build it with scratchbuild decals (roundels and serials).

here's a pic of the box, im gonna think of a backstory later.
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Very uncommon kit. I want to see more  -_-

Part of my decision to go republican was the ease with which thier markings can be made - it's easy to mask and paint the tail stripes and red bars.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Nice one Nils, and very credible.

The Republicans were spectacularly inept when it came to buying stuff, with different teams sent by different factions sometimes ending up bidding against each other without knowing who the "other buyer" was, and because of the arms embargo, they were always at the mercy of dodgy black market arms dealers who, more often than not, royally nailed their hats on. Mind you, that's nothing compared to the degree to which "freindly" governments ripped them off....... :o

So it's easy to see that Seagull falling "second-hand" or "factory-surplus" into the hands of a succession of dubious middle-men. Who knows, it might even have been one of the minority that actually got to Spain!

Terrific reference for serials and colours here:  http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/drnash/model/Spain/codes.html
