And if that brings some fun into the hobby and you've enjoyed your build - that's all that counts.  Whiffing certainly lifted me out of a modelling rut - and has given me the confidence to stretch my modelling skills to boot!

Glad you like that, it was my first ever Whiff and is well over 30 years old by now!

Amazingly nothing on it has ever broken, which of course guarantees that the next time I take it anywhere the landing gear will get trashed........

its the old hasegawa kit [covered in rivets  ] and uses decals from the MA/AW
USCG decal sheets released last year. i would liked to have added a winch but there was
nothing suitable in the spares box.

I've got an Italeri AB-204 one spare if you want it. You'd have to have an open door though: it's the kind that swings out on an arm.

I think the Huey hoist actually mounted on the roof so you could get away without having to open the doors to fit it

You can find pics of a variety of different styles on Hueys, including the external "pod" type, so yes, definately don't give up! (you could even scratch it without too much difficulty). Mine however, is definately the swing-out type.

The infamous PR19 makes this group and I heard one guy explaining to another what engines "the real one used" 

I sometimes wonder if they aren't mistaking it for the RB-57F which it does look remarkably like.  I'll have to get on with the one I want to make (plans for which kindly provided by Kit himself)

Of course the engines came off an RB-57F, but at 1/82 scale, thus their almost exact fit onto a Meteor's Derwent cowlings. I'm forever indebted to Dave Buttress for making that numerical error, or the PR19 would never have existed. 

Are you going to do the original or the PR19b version Robert?

Having seen a Mach2 kit of the RB-57F (and I subsequently bought one  ) the proportions are very similar, just the RB is about twice the size!

I've got one of those Mach II kits as well, I had started to build it before our house moving and it got packed away, I've not seen the box since  

As to which version I'll build of the PR19, I haven't decided yet.  I put the plans away to be safe and they're playing 'hide & seek' at the moment, but I'll do a different one to your build
