Preliminary work on a Luft 46-ish Horten Ho 229 abomination. This is going to be a two seat fighter based on the 229 but with a quite ridiculous host of extra bits and bobs: rear remote controlled cannons, two 37 mm Flak 18 underwing guns and a truly revolutionary wing mounted thrust vectoring system
To be launched from a mobile platform with take off rockets.

It still needs a LOT of work, but this gives a first impression

Interesting project. Keep us posted!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Welcome aboard - great intro!!!  A couple of questions:  What is the landing/recovery plan?  Also, can you explain the "truly revolutionary wing mounted thrust vectoring system" a little?

Greg

Love it, that thing is crazy.

The cynic in me says that if you put a little placard in front of it at a model show that said "Based on a collaborative sketch by Kurt Tank and the Horten Borthers." you'd have true believers lined up around the block.  ;)

What the... ?  :o Damn, that's so cool!

The camo on the truck and trailer is also pretty nifty! How did you achive that efect?
Cheers,

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Thanks!

Hmm ... landing and recovery, I haven't given that any thought yet. Retractable skids? Parachute and thrust vectoring down? I'll have to come up with something feasible...

For the "truly revolutionary wing mounted thrust vectoring system", I will engage <bullsh*t mode>

The Ho 21A has a strengthened fuselage and an extra air intake underneath the body of the plane to accommodate the additional inboard Heinkel HeS 4m ("miniatur") turbojet that powers the thrust vectoring system of this experimental plane.
Power from the turbojet is directed towards the wing exhausts. These exhausts could be opened and closed by hydraulics independently from each other. By opening all 4 exhausts the turbojet power is added to that of the two main Jumo004 engines, boosting the speed of the plane considerably. By opening and closing selected exhausts it was possible to take incredibly sharp turns and make seemingly impossible manoeuvres. In terms of agility the Ho 21A had no equal in the sky. The drawback of all this power was a heavy plane, with a barely adequate fuel supply.
