In the continuing glorious people's struggle against tyranny and oppression Stalin finally decided in 1940 to really stir up the anthill. Tired of Germany's Condor Legion the USSR sent this secret project to the Republican forces. The NKVD had stolen the plans to Hitler's planned jet aircraft. While Soviet engineers could not build a jet engine with the quality of the Reich sometimes quantity is quality. YaK was directed to get a jet in the air, NOW, and this was the result






While the Russian jets did not produce the thrust of the Messershmitt with Jumos the top speed was still in excess of 450 miles an hour.
This one will be really fun to paint every color in the book

Sky blue lowers

Bright red outer wings and horizontal stabs

The red, yellow, and purple vertical stabilizer

One maybe two red bands around the fuselage

Nice one Ron - it'll make an interesting contrast with something I'll be attempting if time permits....

Never seen a Rep job with two red bands (not saying it never happened though) but there were some with a thin white border either side of the red band: that looks good. You could plausibly do it on the wing stripes/tips too.
