I tried to find decent interior shot of this helo and couldn't, so I'm making it up as I go.

Imagine something oozing and dripping like it was from the film Aliens and thats the transmission under the rotor head!!  Once again Eddie Thanks for sharing your in service pictures with all of us! Those USMC Deltas have been in service forever and are still going strong

A suggestion for the paint scheme . . . maybe a 2-tone gray camo similar to the desert scheme used in GW1, complete with the female silhouettes?

Thanks! I like that comparison. ;D

Here's a couple more that Scooterman might like with the color he was noticing on the Echos. Both were taken around 87-89.

Still making forward progress. This thing is HUGE!!

Eddie,

those Navy 53E shots are fabulous!! I took a few when I passed through Cubi Point back in 87, but I didn't get important details like BUNOs (for building accurate models twenty-odd years later.) Thanks for sharing!

That's one sharp looking kit.  I may have to get one of those things.

And I gotta confirm taiidantomcat's assertion about the transmission dripping.  We used to run 'hot and cold' mortar missions out of the backs of the E's in 29 Palms, and those things were leaky b*stards.  I have a few distant pics of CH-53's, but unfortunately whenever I was close enough for a good pick, I was too busy trying to hold onto the gear.

Looking forward to seeing this progress.  May I just suggest proper USMC markings for the beast. . .

Eddie M.

Thank y'all very much! I wanted to see the inside of one of these to make sure I wasn't being too out of line on interior colors. It will have a USMC markings, but from a mystery unit TBA. I'm getting ready to "add a few things" here an there to support the mission I have loosely rolling around in my head. One small photo of how big this is next to a Phantom of the same scale.

Part of the mission for this helo means being able to deal with ground fire suppression from a greater distance.

Thats hot! I have a Bill Gunston book where it shows the 53 as capable of carrying Aim-9s... just food for thought

How about bomb racks underneath the fuselage??

You need at least 3 .30 or .50 cal miniguns in the "door" and ramp posistions.  That would complement the others quite well.

I've seen references to rails being fitted above the sponsons, but I have yet to find any illustration of such a fit.
