I'm back after almost 2 weeks without computer.

I hate hackers >:(

2 days ago, i started this not so good Airfix model
when i arrived at the shop, i thought " great Airfix, put a new Mirage in the market, now i can make a Portuguese Mirage"

Conclusion, This is not a NEW MODEL :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The Box:

Some photos of the work in progress:

the ejection seat from the kit is the one on the left, i changed it for one from the spare box ;D

I decided to recover a fuel tank for the central pylon, because, the missile provided for this position looks like made for a spaceship  :dalek:

The paint job is not as good as it could be, because i have my airbrush MIA :banghead:

more photos in a few days

Looks good from here  Love the sleekness of the Mirage, shown off well in the last picture

What a horrific model! :o  Kudos to you for persevering

If there is one bonus about that kit, it comes with the Matra JL-100 rocket pod/fuel tank combo.  I don't know of any other kit that has them, although there has been a resin set released in the last year.

Well done in perservering, looking forward to see how it turns out!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Nice save of what appears to be a real dog of a kit.

HI guys!

Thanks for the support.

After these last few days spent in Germany, because of my younger sister getting cancer, and needing support, i didn't advance much in the kit.
returned yesterday and made a little bit on the bird or should i say dog ;D

Looking Good,Luis   Small Q:any plans to put a Shark's Mouth on your Mirage III? i think a Plane like that would look good with one, but You're the Builder, You make the call.Stay Cool & Keep up the Great Work   :cheers:Dan

Nice use of the masking tape when using filler . . . Thought I was the only one that did that! ;)

I'm using masking tape since i learned the hard way that to much putty allways leads to missing details after sanding the stuff

the work today was a disaster :banghead:.

I used automotive clear varnish, and the result was good , but after a few hours, i decided to start whit the decals.
the varnish was allready dry, so i started by cutting the decals i needed and sorting them, so far so good. The revell shark's mouth was a bit big  :rolleyes:and because of that it started wrinkling, so i put micro set. The disaster opened after that, i left a full bottle of micro set opened , and spilled all over the decals :banghead:, when i was turning the model around.
i managed to save most of the decals . After some hard work i decided to use micro sol, and them the cherry on top of the cake, the Portuguese roundels and flag started to wrinkle and the decals are shrinking :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Tomorrow i will replace the damaged decals.

That's one SERIOUS sharksmouth there Luis!   ;D

I tried to build that kit way back when it was half of the dogfight double and gave up after hours of fiddling to make it fit properly. You've done a great job, nice one.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Spey_Phantom

for a horrible looking kit, you did a nice job making it look good
and thanks for the warning on the airfix kit, guess if i ever need another mirage III/5 kit, i'd look for the Heller or old Revell box

Thanks guys ;D

It was the best i could do after all the setbacks i had.
I had considered making another Mirage before i opened the box, but now i think i have to look for another brand

So it is finished and here are the photos:

I do remember that kit  :banghead: You've done a great job with it
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
