Where does this one come from?  It looks interesting and doable.

I would start with a sea plane (probably a Grumman Albatros?) and go from there

Like the red and yellow job Taiidan! Very doable as a model, 1/48th Mosquito wings and a 1/32nd Me262 or 1/72nd Mossie and 1/48th 262?
Love that one with the bears getting their plane refuelled too, Me262/Polikarpov fuselage, Stuka wings but not sure where to get the engines. Reminds me of Tailspin!

On the bench.
1/72 Space 1999 Eagle, Comet Miniatures Martian War Machine
1/72nd Quad Tilt Rotor, 1/144th V/STOL E2 Hawkeye (stalled)

I'd say a 48th Shinden fuselage with a 72 Whirlwind fighter canopy.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The artist, Arthur Filloy was a member here for a short span, and I think he said he combined elements of the P-61 with the LAAT/i from Star Wars.  I used to have an image of the plane from a different angle, but I seem to have misplaced it, and I can't find it on his old blog.

Dug threw my hard drive for some prop jobs.  Some of these have been posted before, I think.  The first and third images are from the Sky Crawlers anime.  The second image is Ron Cobb's concept art of the flying wing from Raiders of the Lost Ark.  The last is a turbo-propped Skyraider.

What if we take the F-105 or HA-300, lengthen mid and aft fuselage, and adopt rear-mounted tandem-coupled piston/turboprop engines (reason for the fuselage stretch), contra-rotating pusher propellers, and cruciform tail units?

Sort of like a counterpart development for nations that had trouble getting access to fuel-efficient jet engines?
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!
