This is one of those projects that just suddenly grab you and demand to be built. I got inspired by the recent release of the Moebius Models Viper MK II. I immediately ordered one as I have had a Viper from the original BSG in the stash for years.
Well heck y'all know I can't build something OOB ;D  So as I try to figure out how to kitbash the MK II I figured I would practice on this
I know from the new series that there is a MK II and a MK VII and I wondered what came between  Now I have never actually seen an episode of the new series :banghead: But I figured if they had Battlestars and Vipers they must have the equivalent of Marines and Army Aviators
So this is my version of the Viper MK III Marine/Army/Reserve.
The existing MK I Vipers that weren't put in museums were refitted to optimise them for ground based use and atmospheric launch as well as long range recon patrols by far flung forward bases in outlying colonies ;D
Whiffed cockpit

Oh yeah I figured Marines and Army would never put up with the cheesy Egyptian helmets

More details later.....she demands to be worked on

Okay, seriously, amazing conversion!  What did you use for the guns?  The shape looks so familiar, but I can't quite place it.

Those guns look vaguely Warhammer-ish. Whatever the source, it needs more of 'em!  Or some rocket pods. Or both!

The bubble-top canopy looks pretty good on there!
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Thanks all y'all  A major thanks to Atlantis who showed off the MK II Viper in an earlier thread. I did not even know the were out .The guns are from an Anime ship from Cowboy Bebop called a Red Tail. They are a Gatling gun over a revolver rocket launcher
I'll get some more pics up pretty quick. She is not quite ready for paint yet as I have only been working on her for 3 days. I have some more detail work to do
By the way she will probably be sporting really dark green and bright yellow livery

Weapons details

Note that this is a tandem weapons installation. The outboard gun is a magnetically accelerated 30 mm projectile gun. Generally the loadout consists of alternating metal ceramic matrix disintegrating rounds and armor piercing although high explosive and even crystal matrix subcaliber hellbore rounds have been issued.
The inboard cannon is an 80 mm rocket/missile launcher. A multi purpose revolver cannon it can be loaded with a variety of smart projectiles at the pilots discretion. At close range the loads act like rockets and are magnetically accelerated. At longer ranges the smart missile option automatically activates and communicates with the onboard targeting computer to self guide.
