Apparently uses a Suzuki chassis as the Mazda Carol was rear engine.

Two further insane ideas sprang to mind while swimming today (told you my best ideas come when swimming!)
The frist is what I have named the 'F Bucket'. A 'T Bucket' is a hot rod based on a Model T ford. The roadster pickup body is used onm a shortened frame so the rear wheels are just behind the body. Either a chrome fule tank or a shortened pickup bed is attached behind the tub. There are no fenders and no bonnet, just a grille and exposed engine. Eg:

Therse were very popular during the early years of rodding.
My plan is this: Update the T Bucket about 25 years. It'll still be a pickup body riding a chopped down chassis with exposed wheels etc, but use the body of a 1950s pickup - an F-1 or F-150; hence the name 'F Bucket'. I think it should still have something like the stock grille up front, but no fenders, so the grille would need a lot of re-working. Anyway, I'd like to have a shot at this. Anyone got any recommendations on the bect kit? It needs a nicely detailed seperate chasis, and I'd like custom parts for the engine since it'll be very visible. I'll be cutting the roof off to make it a roadster naturally.
This is a Ford F-1, first of the F series pickups. Imagine removing the bonnet, and all the fender skirting around the grille so there are just grille and lights left. That's the sorta look I want.

This is an F-100 circa '55. Very popular with customizers already, but that grille could be an issue with the sort of look I want. Might need a custom unit, or popssibly just grab a 32 ford or other hotrod traditional grille and slap it on.


The second plan is to get a 1/35 scale Japanese army truck (or possibly German if I can;t find a Japanese one) from ww2 and customize it as a show car hauler for the Sinister Orientals CC. no real plans as yet, I need to see what is available before I think about how to customize.

Please excuse the crude Photoshopping, but....



Maybe the intakes and housing above the word "Ford" could somehow be incorporated mid-engine into the carb system, or transported to the firewall for a strictly visual design element, leaving just the grill and "Ford" at the front.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

I was going to delete the nostril intakes as I think they always look a bit silly. They also make the front rather taller than I'd like.

I'm going to get the parts for an F Bucket on the weekend. Thinking of using the '55 or so body style as I've worked out a great way of using that grille.

Yeah, to me it looks like you could narrow the grille horizontally by taking some length out of the middle of the parallel bars, then maybe use the Ford crest as the radiator cap decoration. The "V8" would look cool. Like So?

I was more inclined to place it infront of the wheels at full width and very low for the sleek early 60's show car look.

Or maybe the intakes could be on the end of long chrome "trumpets" that connect them to the carbs, and the surrounding housing dumped. The visual effect would be like a pair of giant, fat air horns on top of the engine.

Got even more nutty last night when I got to thinking about models in my stash which could provide a grille...
Now it might actually use a 64 Marauder grille and light unit in a custom front panel...
or possibly the 'Adonis' grille found in the 64 Marauder customizing kit (1994ish reissue, not original, and very cheaply aquired on eBay)

Well, Melbuorne's hobbyshops are REALLY low on car models for reasons unexplained, so I couldn't find a Ford F100. In fact, the only pickup kit avaiulable was Lindberg's 90s F-150, and then there was the one ute kit, an El Camino. Niether of which helped at all.
So I'll haver to order one online and delay the project, dammit.

I've managed to source a 53 F100 from eBay. Okay, it cost me $60 including postage, but it does come with a free 62 TBird, 67 Stang and 57 300C, so I can't complain ;D
I'll get to it once it arrives and I finish off th SOCC builds. It's the AMT Flip Nose version; all the other cars are in thier stock version boxes, late 90s/early 2000s AMT/Ertl boxes. I've got the custom version of the 300C (only difference seems to be a grille, but I'm not sure), and it's a rather nifty bi of kit. So I'll end up doing strange things with all of them. The Stang is a fast back, so not exactly what I want for the station wagonification. I might turn it into a ute instead.

The donor kit for the F Bucket has arrived, and I intend to work on it in between working on my Cadvette (car models involve long dry times, so I find it easier to work on multiple cars at the same time than I find it to work on multiples of most other types of model). I'll be moving all F Bucket related mutterage over to the current and finished progress section as a result. See you there.
