I used to find all sorts of treasures in the gift shop at the Carolinas Aviation Museum, and they were never more than $5.  In terms of most kit for the money, the best deal was probably the 1/72 MPM F5F SKyrocket.  The box contained two complete kits plus photo-etch and reference materials.

I got an airfix 1/144th scale concorde for 2 quid a few weeks back, and the postage was 2 quid also.
Bargain of the year so far.

I got Revell boxings of a Mig 31 (Zvezda), Wellington and Lancaster (both Matchbox) for £7.50 each from Hobbycraft a year or so ago. Not stupendously cheap, but 50% off the list price. Also got a Revell Halifax for a fiver from Plastic Pastimes, and several very good deals on ebay - the most recent was a Fujimi Hawk T1 for 99p. Oh, and Hannants had/has some decent clearance deals on various kits at the moment - recently got a G.55B for about £9, which includes two full fuselages (the original fighter kit, plus a two-seater fuse for the B-model trainer). Had a couple of Hasegawa F-20s for under a fiver as well from various places.

My best deal by far is one from a member here (I'm afraid I forget who), who sold me a Trumpeter Tu-142 and Tu-16 for a ridiculously low price (around £25 IIRC). That's the 1:72 kits, by the way. ;D Just have to wait until I have a bigger house to put them in before I can build them!

I got the 21st Century 1/18 Fw 190D from WalMart for $7.00!

I can count the Revell Lancasters M&S were selling cheap a few years back?  They were £15 each or buy two get one free and then they knocked another 20-30% off too.  I still can't get my head round the maths but I think they ended up at about 6 quid each!

I've just remembered another one.....  ;D

Some years back, when at my ex-employers head office in Minneapolis, I went to the local Custom Car show at the State Fair Grounds at St. Paul. There were only about three million cars there and half the population of the state of Minnesota, and in similar scale they had a HUGE 'Bits and Pieces Sale' with loads of stands of guys selling everything you could think of, including some selling kits as well. Amongst this lot was a guy who had some Frog aircraft kits, including a Sea Vixen, a Blackburn Skark and an FD2 amongst others.

I asked him how much the Shark was, being as rare as hen's teeth in the UK at the time.

He replied 'All that stuff is a dollar each', which suprised me so I picked up the Shark and asked him about the Sea Vixen, thinking that it had to be more expensive.

He looked at me as if I was deranged and said brusquely 'I told ya, all the kits are a dollar!'

So I took him at his word and took all 10 of them, and he gave me $2 discount!  ;D

Nothing as spectacular as all this, but I bought a Revell kit of the Mercedes 1450 LS race truck a few years ago. This one was E 40 when in production, it was by then long OOP, but I found one via eBay at a shop in Germany for E 15. There's one on eBay now for E 70...

Not very spectacular, but just after Christmas, I went into the LHS where they sell 2nd hand kits as well as new ones. I picked up a Matchbox Comet tank that was priced at £5.00, and through the window on the back (praise be to Matchbox....)  I saw a Stuart turret! I took it to the counter and pointed out that there was something odd going on, so they opened it, and it turned out to contain a Comet AND and a Stuart, shoehorned into the one box by throwing the diorama bases away. He insisted on selling it to me for the £5.00 on the price ticket, so that was £2.50 each: not bad at all.

A local store has the Airfix Nimrod for £15.99.  Our local Modelzone has them for £19.99.

Lee, if they still have it could you pick us one up and we can exchange cash for styrene at the next show?

Best deal of the past year has to go to the shop in the Uk that was selling the 1/48th Scale 21 Century kits at £1.99 each. You know the ones Ju87, Me109G14, Macchi and whatever other ones you may have been able to get before they were bought out on mass by individual modelers. As we don't have any this far North, I can only thank TSR Joe for the ones he managed to get me down Glasgow way - Ta Much!!

Picked up the 1/32 21st Century Toys Ju-87, Veltro & Zero kits for two quid each from Home Bargains.  No idea why I bought them other than they were cheap.

Revell 1/72 Hawker Hunter FGA.9 from Modelzone for a fiver (might get some more, they never sold out, even at that price).

Airfix/ESCI 1/48 Viggen from Discount Books for a fiver.

Two Airfix 1/48 Lightning F.2A/F.6's for £13 each from (I think) the RAF Benevolent Fund stand at Waddington Airshow.  Not bad considering they went for way over the original asking price of £26 until the Eduard re-box came along.

Unboxed Airfix Bf-109G & Beaufighter TF.X unboxed for £1 each from The Model Shop in Hull.  Come to think of it, I was probably robbed!
