Couldn't they use the King George V graving dock at Southampton? At one stage it was the biggest dry-dock in Europe.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

According to Wikipedia BAe (snippage)

BAE, BAE, BAE!!!  IT'S ALL CAPS!!!

There, let the company man out, now he's safely back in his hole.

If they do go CTOL, France might get back into the game with PA2 and buy it off the shelf from the UK (not incurring any development costs that made them flee from the project in terror).

Oh, no it wasn't!!! :P

One thing about BAE Systems is they retcon their initials to everything.  UDLP, Armor Holdings, British Aerospace (BAe)... never existed, they were always BAE according to what we're supposed to go by.  So, yeah, it was BAE for the T-45 according to the company.   ;D
I exist to pi$$ others off!!!

They don't call you evil for nothing Geoff! ;D ;D ;D  I like it!!!

Wonder how much a navalised T-50 would cost, if they could fit on CVF???  The thrust vectoring will help it get off a carrier....

Good aint I, now you know why some cringe when i make a suggestion as it tends to disrupt their build plans  ;D

It's not a navy dock, though. There are other docks as well, but they are all commercially run. They'd have to buy one and establish a new base, which they're not willing to do.

Back to the JSF for a mo and to continue what i was saying earlier the JSF too is too far down the line to cancel.... I know people who have been working on its systems for nigh on six years now.... while the price IS skyrocketing the price of pissing off both BAe and America (our partner in this project remember) by cancelling it would be again far worse than just carrying on...

The Ghost of Projects cancelled.....!!

TSR2!!

what more can be said, especially with new bean counters in power?

We just have to wait and see, and start WHIFFing every concievable aircraft option.

Cheers

Locking this thread as i actually answered Aircavs original question some time ago, i can quite happily discuss the CVF and the now questionable choice of a £100 million+ VTOL JSF for its airgroup but better to discuss that in a more suitable thread.
