Just spotted this group build today (5/7/10)

I have a Hasegawa F-111G that I'm sure I could whiff to death! ;D

Awesome!

Now, what scheme, what country????

At this early stage it's probably going to be African, with a wacko weathered camo scheme.

Richard.

GTX

Richard,

Great to have you aboard!

May I suggest you have a look at Da Rulz - I've introduced some different elements into this GB which I hope you will find especially appealing.

Oh goody I can do a profile and back story too! ;D

OK, here we are after the first day........

Next I've got to scrape, snip, shave & file these bits................

Now  I also need to work on that side profile and story...........ummmmm

I realise, like most of you, that starting a kit is the easy part! Finishing it can be another kettle of fish!!!!!!

Cheers

Richard.

OK guys I finally sorted out who's F-111 it'll be! It will be a South African Air Force F-111SA (ex-RAAF F-111G).

Weapons fit will consist of ALQ-131, 2 x Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missiles, 1 x drop tank and 1 x IRIS-T.

I'll work on a story for it too as time permits.

Cheers

Richard.

Ohhh!

I can't say the thought of my beloved SAAF having that horrid swing wingy thingy inflicted on them is a pleasant one, however anything in "THE COOLEST CAMO SCHEME IN THE WORLD" is always welcome (even, uuugh, F-111's).

Hmmmm....

Might I interest Sir in this, or even this for that "Regte, Egte Suid Afrikaanse Geur"?

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

the first of your links doesn't work, the second looks similar to the Taurus, plus the Taurus was tested in SA and at least I can get hold of one as the Revell Typhoon kit has a pair as well as the IRIS-T.

Cheers

Richard.

Here's where I'm up to as of 26th July 2010.

Here we see the nose section filled with 'goop' and sanded smooth.

Another shot of the filled area.

Taurus cruise missiles readied to be filled and sanded. (from the Revell Typhoon kit)

My bits & pieces as of today.

Cheers

Richard.

Here's the Taurus Cruise missiles with 'goop' added.

Just have to sand them and they should be ready for paint.

Cheers

Richard.

Going with an F-111K style retractable refueling probe in the panel ahead of the windscreen or keeping the USAF recepticle in the upper fuselage ?

BTW i Think Duncan meant to point you to Mupsow, SA's home grown missile :- http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/weapons/54/mupsow-cruise-missile

Look forward to seeing this one progress
