My dear friends, in English, you love to say "HER" or "SHE" for a plane. I understand that, because sexy curves etc...

But, in French, a plane is a "male". So... Un Rafale, un Spitfire (ein Schpitfeuer in Alsacian), un Super Mystère, un Mirage IV... But there is some exception, like une Caravelle.

However une rafale is correct, but it's the word for... burst I think.

This really works-out very well for me, as I've already comitted to a Rafale for the What If GB over on Britmodeller which kicks-off just a couple of weeks after this one. I have at least three of the RoG kits in the stash and they do build very, very nicely and even before this GB got the OK, I had (concrete) plans for all three..... That hasn't changed at all.

But today I did something decisive, so decisive, that I even surprised myself...... I decided on the second model..... It will be...... The Airfix 1:72 Super Mystere B2. One of their best ever 1:72 kits, IMHO and, again, goes together very easily, with just a little filling & sanding. Plus, the kit I have, has got one of those very nice Series 3 display stands.... great  

So from from now, this thread will be where I post all the progress shots of both builds.

With a Mystere IVA in the anti-radiation scheme in Angola.

Not poor taste, Dunc, just that both are waaayyy to obvious. Think either a South American nation with a number of border conflicts going-on in the 60's and 70's OR an African nation with no obvious ties to France, but taking advantage of the 'We'll sell to anybody' policy that Dassault/France adopted in the late 1960's. - That's your last clue !!

When I get-in, in the morning, it's stright to the loft to dig these two and the F-111 out of the stash.

BTW, what about Spanish markings in 3 colors scheme deployed in Sahara desert

Totally agree with your comments re. the Airfix Super Mystere, a kit that just needs re-issueing please.

Can't wait to see it...let's remember the Ouragon got as far as El Salvador, and the Super Mystere as far as Honduras.
