F8F Bearcat

OK chaps, the Revell Bearcat is out (re-released Monogram kit) that's an easy quick build, petite and attractive.

Any ideas on what to do with it?

Some can be straight forward repaints, others might be more involved modifications.

What are your suggestions?
Can we have details too.....?/
eg....Royal Navy Bearcat FB2, in Sky/Grey with Korean War stripes.
        USAAF Natural metal, using markings from a 9th AF P-47 unit.

Any profiles would be most welcome.

Lots of scope for pylon racer Bearcats of course, but that's RW stuff.

I did that kit as the Smirnoff liveried 'Rare Bear' umpteen years ago, and it's a lovely little model to put together. I've always wondered what to do with the weird conical stand though, and the Revell version still includes it........!

Doing mine as a RN bird over Korea (in Sea Fury markings, of course).  Maybe I will try and finish it up for Nats but that means I have to mask more stripes

 Give it a spinner. Bare propellers on anything that does more than 200 mph are an offense against the
Creator.

Spinners certainly look more aesthetic...certainly something to consider.....especially when tipped with flight or squadron colours.

No raised canopy, like the original configuration of the Howell Miller designed, Granville Bros. built "Time Flies" for Frank Hawks.

One of my first WHIF attempts was to modify the 1/48th scale Hawk F8F Bearcat by replacing the propeller with another from the Monogram Hawker Typhoon and painted the thing in a very pretty light blue.  I used decals from a model car kit that had NASCAR markings for one of Richard Petty's race cars.

I made an "Early Bearcat" by using the turtledeck from an F4F with a three-blade prop from a Hellcat. I painted it the three-tone camo of the Marianas Turkey Shoot with Alex Vraciu at the helm (stick?). I figured that maybe the US Navy decided to specialize and have the heftier Hellcat be the escort fighter, and the fast-climbing Bearcat be the fleet defense fighter. Ir's kind of a double-take whif, in that it has a familiar look to it (Hellcat) at first glance, but there is something different about it that "requires" a second look.
