Since Revell's VW camper van is now available, we might as well have a thread for it.... ;D

Now then, whose going to do this to one?

Well, anything any van can be modified into doing, certainly so can the VW camper, no?

Now if I can find that army satellite relay van (not a VW camper conversion though) picture for possibilities......  :banghead:

Hmm.. situate the tires horizontally and turn them into some manner of sci-fi hover drive units?

Mash two of 'em together end to end to make a double-header version?

Treads to make a tanklet?

Do away with the "cockpit" to make a UAV (Uninhabited Automotive Vehicle)?

Fix two together side by side with a structure between them to facilitate the launch and retrieval of Peel P50 Microcars?

NASA version powered by RTGs to serve as a Mars explorer? You could put all sorts of auxiliary solar panels, telemetry dishes, mechanical arms, great big heavy duty tires...

I've been asked a question on another forum by a non-modeller looking at buying a present for her brother:

1. What VW camper van kits are available?

I know about the Revell Samba and T3 Westphalia and the three Hase offerings, but of these, only the T3 is an actual "camper", i.e. with the pop-up roof. Are there any other kits available?

2. What's the quality of any/all of these kits?

Many thanks in advance.

Lengthen it by one row of seating.

I miss having a working camera, because I fear words are inadequate to describe what I saw this afternoon: a VW bus, converted into a pickup truck.  I was preparing to turn right when I saw what looked like a VW bus approaching from the opposite direction.  It turned left in front of me and revealed itself in the side view.  The front had been chopped into two-person cab, and the back was cut down into a truck bed, with tool boxes bolted on top.

Did the tracked suspension come from Panzer 38(t)?  Just curious.

Uh, they were available like that from the factory.
