Welcome one and all, to the public unveiling of the Wooden Blunder, the Plywood Parrot....yes it's the Fleet Air Arm's first        ( and last ) attempt at a wooden supersonic fighter - the Westland Woodpecker!!

Seen here is XV788, shortly before gloss sealant spraying, and mounting as a gate guardian at RNAS Hiding-in-The Shed.

Scooterman

LIKE IT!  Kinda got a Skyhawk look to it.

Thanks!  In keeping with 'recycling mania', the Woodpecker FA.1 is entirely constructed from......fence panels - a well known modelling medium... ;D ;D

Not only built with Tongue in cheek, but Tongue and groove as well....

Maybe you will start a new trend... "Green Modelling" ??
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well, that doesn't dovetail exactly with my plans, but if we all join forces, I'm sure we can whittle the idea down to something workable....!

Woodn't that be nice....
Yes indeed!  Quick, too - nice to shave some time off the build, stops you getting board, which can be a knotty problem....

deathjester

Indeed, I only just twigged on to it...

deathjester

Well, here she is, all ready for gate guard duties.  I've polished this one off faster than I thought, but maybe I should leaf the puns alone for now, as they are getting a bit wooden

Gondor

Is the next model in this vein going to be a Su-24 by any chance ?

Gondor

Gondor's Modelling Rule Number Three: Everything will fit perfectly untill you apply glue...

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

deathjester

Well, you know, from little acorns....

I'll stick at it.

Absolute cherry of a model!

Birchance you now pine for a larcher project?

A 1/32 Sycamore and build a diorama of RAF Oakington around it

I'd offer more ideas but  I have already pretty much treed myself for puns and any further efforts would consitute seriously going out on a limb.

This seems to be the winner of the Stealth race: radar signature is not only very-reduced, it is zero! Wow! And the profile of the wing, very innovative also, deserves a (Worldwide) patent!
