The group build is started.  I will be building the Soviet rocket powered test vehicle that was built to beat the US X-1 breaking the sound barrier.  It was carried aloft under a Tu-4.

I finally had some time to work on this.  This is a Tu-4 converted from the 1/72 MPC (Airfix) B-29 along with a Bachem Natter converted to a rocket powered reseach plane.  The underside photo shows how the rocket plane is mounted below the Tu-4 wing root.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

...and at first glance you think 'Yeah, it's a B-29 with a Natter underneath'......

And THEN you notice the wing is in the wrong place and the tail is at the front!

Nice thinking Ed, I'm sure you'll make your usual superb job of finishing it off.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Wasn't the NATO aircraft reporting name for that little experimental rocket the "Nutter"? ;D

I'll get my coat!

It's finished.  Not my best work.  I got a little rushed here at the end.
