A fully fuelled Tu-4T, taking off from Moscow, could only reach Kiev before requiring refuelling. Needless to say, the plane wasn't put into production, with only three prototypes being built.

Dear Alvis 355/113, this model is great! while... may I show you the scheduled solution (zwilling variant) to the range issue?
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Nice one Alvis.
Where to the main wheels retract to?

That's what I wondered, too? There seems to be a landing gear, but the perspective does not allow a glimpse... a narrow tricycle arrangement, à la A3D/B-66?

It looks like B-36 style (from where the shadows are)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Captain Canada

Looks like she could handle rough fields as well.

Holy flashback batman!
I honestly have forgotten what I did to accomodate the landing gear. I will have to go dig this out and post the results. Given the lack of underside photos, I may have taken the lazy way out and not dealt with it at all, but that's not normally what I do. I like to try to engineer believable workabilities to my totally confabulated designs.

That's my fault. I was looking for the B-29 artwork when I stumbled across your model and thought wow how did I miss this?
Probably hadn't joined this site back then, even so you deserved another fan of your work.
There must be hundreds of topics or models that I haven't discovered yet.

This build inspired me to have a crack at my own B-29 Soviet Jet bomber sometime back in my 1/72 scale days.

We really should set up a `nostalgia thread` where old builds can be resurrected...

Happens behind the stand at most shows  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Oooh that is nice ! Looks so good like that. The shape just seems right.

If they did made a jet TU-4 bomber. The Chinese would halved copied it and used it as an electronic warfare

McColm

Maybe that's how the Tu-16 Badger evolved.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
