Nick

There are a few models of US Navy and Marine hovercraft but you're right, there aren't a lot out there. Pretty sure I've seen a couple of fantasy hovertanks out there but they might have been scratchbuilds.

Airfix 1/144 SRN4 (269 parts!)
Airfix 1/72 SRN1

Trumpeter
1/72 USS LCAC
1/144 US LCAC
1/72 JMSDF Landing Craft
1/144 JMSDF Landing Craft
1/350 USS Wasp comes with 2 LCAC. Also released by Revell.

There's also a set from Dragon at 1:700 containing a Zubr/ Pomornik, Lebed and Aist (I think).
What if... I had a brain?

It, or at least the hovercraft, have been out for a few years now. Got them in a set with some other stuff.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

In the 60s, Bell built five of the SRN5 model as their SK-5.  These were operated by the Navy in Vietnamese waters, armed with machine guns.  The last surviving model is at the Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis in Virginia.

While they were all designated SK-5, the USN operated the Model 7232 and the Army had the re-designed Model 7255.
The machine in the photos is the latter, note the flat topped hull.

The USN machines were later operated by the USCG.

The only surviving USN Model 7232 (re-engined SRN-5) is about 65 miles north of me in Bellingham, Washington.

That was a tad expensive, but what choice do you have?

It's surprising that there's still a ready trade in the kit, someone, somewhere must have a HUGE stash of them!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It would seem that way, I don't know who you would ask to get a re-run.

King Kit have them in stock, listed at £22.  I guess that's where the stash is!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hi Guys,
What type of weapons would a military version of the SRN4 carry for self defence and are there 1/144 tanks available?

Mossie

Trumpeter do some 1/144 AAV's that would suit the SR.N4 perfectly.  If your looking at a Royal Marines version, the LVTP-7 would work nicely as Argentina operated these in the Falklands.  In reality they all returned home, but you could have them as war booty used for training exercises, which happened for real with some captured equipment.
