Utterly brilliant!

I too have been waiting to see who'd come up with one of the amazing variants in the Gibson book, and you've just done it. And very WELL done too, it looks awesome.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Many thanks everyone, I much appreciate the kind comments,

Hobbes,I agree that the Supers (1150) wing had the extension and Chris's drawings show one with and one without also a couple of other drawings I have show them without these fitted! though this variant was to have boundary layer control and blown flaps.....a bit confusing so I opted to leave them off for this particular build. As for the gear arrangement, that's just my interpretation of dealing with the massive hike in all up weight, (in excess of 400,000lbs with full warload and fuel), also the original gear left no ground clearance for the fins of the Skybolts even when virtually fitted flush to the wings!

Geoff and Joe, thanks, it certainly should read Avro 776!.....must pay more attention in class... :banghead:
Certainly hope Chris likes it....out of interest I have a few more planned..

Weaver, very true, the name was to be used by Vickers for the ATGW but according to Chris it would have been a real possibility had the project gone ahead.

Dunc...I'm running out of space here ;D so it kind of helps... Yes I've considered the Anigrand monster after ruling out the Airways vac , (though did seriously consider the Magna resin!). and yes I've also thought about the Cammett jobbie for the AEW, though the modular 'interceptor bomber killer' version loaded with 28 Red Barrel missiles is rather tempting,( though I might need to get another Sperrin for the front end!!).

Gondor just go build it ;) and Ian, thanks mate, glad you like it,

Thanks kit and kitbasher, much appreciated...

Cheers all,

This is a beautiful build!

And I never knew Skybolts were actually modeled outside aftermarket kits.

Simply outstanding!

Thanks Anthony, yep these are off the old Crown B52 kit though as you may know Colin (Freightdog) has some lovely 1/72nd resin ones out at the moment.....combined with the upcoming Anigrand resin VC10 who knows what might turn up next!! ;D

Red Barrel missiles...someone was taking the P surely ? You couldn't even bring a tea total maiden aunt down with that stuff, let alone a Bear or 2  ;D

Chris, who's old enough to know what he's talking about

Cheers fellas, Chris, I agree.my fault, as my daughter would say....'my bad!!' the design project was to be designated 'Red Barrel'  and the aircraft (modular VC10) to carry 18 CF299's ...sorry, well it was getting late!!....I know.... lame!!
:-X

Doc Yo

I don't know that much about the aircraft itself, but this bird would look right at home in a vintage
James Bond film. Beautiful work, sir.

General Melchet

Thanks guys,

Joe and Geoff ...would it not be a 'Vickers Watney Red Barrel'..................don't worry , I'll fetch it myself!!

Thanks Doc...maybe 'For your VC10's only' or 'VC10's are forever', might even have been fun using one in Thunderball, though the sea ditching might have proved interesting!!!

... might explain the 'Vengeance' name i found in the files in relation to a 'V Bomber' replacement, id originally assumed it referred to the F.111K in the strike role (Merlin has since been confirmed as the intended name tho) hmmm, from information released at the PRO. at Kew over recent years that the actual replacement at one point was to have been the Skybolt VC.10 (might also shed some light as to Vickers being offered a sop of more VC.10's when TSR.2 was cancelled!)
