Thanks all Y'all
Martin I am always looking at shapes to use in builds. Do you think the Avery Hornet looks like a C-130 nose
Greg the original F-5 /Draken bash ALMOST became this...I just did not have the cojones

It's looking excellent Ron - nice one!

I know it's way too late now, but that engine outlet/nozzle would really lend itself to having a piece of frosted perspex in it with a light behind it. I don't know how you intend to treat the nozzle, but one thing you could maybe do is make a removeable insert covered in Scotchtape or some other highly reflective material and then just put it in for photography, with a focussed/shielded bright light shining on it from behind from off-camera.

Personally, I fancy the ACM 118 Manta or the Avery-Frost Orion.

Weav I am going with a totally different direction for the engine compartment. It mentions in the text that certain models were fitted with different engines . To add interest to the model I am going to go with two rocket verniers and an ion exhaust . The backstory is that this build will be a model built after the official end of the hostilities. It is an Alphan craft remanufactured for the Terran Volunteer Group . Isolated Proximan units refused to surrender for nearly a decade after the official end to the war. A number of Terran military and scientists located to Alpha to exchange tactical and engineering information and help defend Alpha from rogue Proximan incursions ;D

This will be the engine setup I will use. A low thrust ion engine for long range cruising in normal space and two high thrust pulsed plasma combat engines

Man that's a lot of sanding! Mind you, the third pic looks rather good: like it's having a tough re-entry....

Fair enough on the engines Ron - there's a lot of that "alternative engine fit" stuff in Spacecraft 2000-2100: if only it was that simple in real life!

See here for another (I presume abortive) start that someone made on Stingray, Hornet and Shark models:

It's interesting the number of different ways that different people can interpret the original images, isn't it? You can find wildly different "Hornets" on the web. What struck me was that you could use the Airbus Beluga to mae the nose of one.

Weaver that "someone" is our own Doc Yo  I actually got to meet him and see these proto masters at the Austin show last month  Unfortunately they have not progressed any further. Very nice dude though. He inspired me to go ahead and start this project. I had only been putting it off for some 35 years  Next is definitely the Avery Hornet  I will completely scratch build it.

Thought I recognised the name - cheers!

What do you think of using the (newly reissued) Airbus Beluga for one? It may not be spot on, but it's close in profile, and given your propensity for PSR....

I'd be tempted to make a "similar but different" ship from one myself, but I'm on a near-total buying freeze at the moment.

Yeah I hit a LHS on the way home yesterday .I eyeballed numerous kits but in the end I couldn't part with the cash especially since I just bought new tires. I just bought some basswood stock . I will just carve the thing out o raw nothing.......I hope  ;)

I'm doing a little catching up and all I can say about this one is

YOWSA!!!

Your ability to take all these different parts and merge them so seamlessly is out of this world, Ron!
