Love the choice of subject and a great build!

Old Wombat

Awesome kit-bashing skills, dude!

I really must drop by this site more often...

Maybe when I start the half-dozen-odd whiff's I've got fermenting in the stash!

I never realised the TTA was such a big thing. I've seen Space Wreck, in the 80's, a friend owned a copy.

Also, I seem to have crossed Poul Anderson's Polesotechnic League & the TTA in my head (mind you, the Foss & Elson artwork on the covers could be to blame).
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

Thanks y'all  Wombat the TTA stuff is an old childhood friend to me. It has just taken me about 35 years to get my skills to the level where I was confident enough to tackle the subjects. I still have not found all 4 books.

See here for another (I presume abortive) start that someone made on Stingray, Hornet and Shark models:

It's interesting the number of different ways that different people can interpret the original images, isn't it? You can find wildly different "Hornets" on the web. What struck me was that you could use the Airbus Beluga to mae the nose of one.

I prefer the term "Stillborn", thanks. Yes, those are mine. Damn me with faint praise again sometime, won't you?

Glad I was able to inspire somebody with them, anyhow. The build is looking very good, Sotool-I still like mine a little better ;),
but there you are. Can't wait to see the paint-are you going with the illustrated version, or a varaiation?

I only presumed it was abortive/stillborn/whatever because those pages have never been updated since the first time I found them, not because there was anything wrong with the models: there isn't.

I didn't praise or damn you at all because it was a quick post to refer people to the pics, not a review or an analysis.

Thanks Doc .I would really like to see yours completed as masters and cast up by someone.  :wub:No one is ever gonna make mine into  models cause they're like a foot long
I am going to paint her pretty much like the book but have been vaccilating on changing the red to purple

Thats usually whats meant by the phrase "damning with faint praise"...but you would have had
no way of knowing what the story is behind those builds, and the frustration they can still evoke from
me. I was needlessly snarky, and for that I apologise. Still, there is a possibility of them being cast
as a direct result of your posting them, so I may even wind up in your debt.

Sotool- Purple would be an interesting choice, and it occurs to me that you could extend that
logic to do the Hornet in a series of subtle brown tones. ( I went most of my adult life without
being stung by any kind of flying insect. Brown wasps/hornets made a small nest on the corner of our
house and nailed in the face twice in the space of two weeks. )

Amazing, really good work, I love this plane, his form and the power it show. Really is a very nice starship.

Gondor

I don't envy you building that and I certainly do not envy you when you paint it ! thats going to take some very clever and neat masking !!

Hey all y'all many thanks.  Doc I have always wanted to do an actual black and yellow craft and just haven't. So I will definitely do the Hornet as close to the illustration as possible. I bought paint markers so I can do the little subtle details.
Tomcat my thanks  Coming from someone with your skills and imagination that is a very nice compliment.
Pablo as good as you are at whiffing I would love to see what you could do with a spaceship ;D ;)
Gondor I have Liquid Mask and will be making extensive use of it for this paintjob    + paint markers as the illustrations are soooooo freakin detailed

Not quite how I understand the phrase, hence the reply, but hey, let's drop it: I think all we're doing is demonstrating yet again how easy it is to be misunderstood on the internet. For the unambiguous record, I think your TTA models are very good, far outside my capabilities, and I'd be chuffed to bits to see them finished and cast up!

Allright ,very good
Now for some detailing
I have taken some liberties  (and will take more) to add interest with the detailing.

Of course where I have gone furthest from the original artwork is the engines but I feel I can get away with this cause the write up specifically
mentions versions with different drive systems
EDIT; Holy crap I gotta make my pics smaller
Also , obviously now I have to resand :banghead:
