Hi,
Daft ideas really do get built. Most landing craft cater for the military or rescue ferterntity. Amphibious vehicles tend not to sell in vast quantities due to bulk, speed on land and comfort on water.
If you own a motorhome it must be frustrating coming across a river and not been able to bridge it.
Fear not help is at hand, as the pictures show of an amphibious motorhome.
Supplied by the: Cool Amphibious Manufactures International
I give you "Terra Wind".

We enter the water, any other vehicle would stall by now and hey presto! It floats!!

There are a few along the same lines. The Amfibus is in use in Rotterdam for harbor tours:

Maverick

Less specialised is the use of LARCs in Australia (particularly Queensland) and Asia as tourist transporters.

May I suggest this be moved - it isn't really a finished [model] project.

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

I was trying to get away from the Landing craft i.e. DUKW or ducks and go for something bigger.
Pitty no one ever thought of putting wheels on a frigate or battleship, this would save thousands on cruise missiles, might have put the tank out of business.

Hobbes

Nah, wheeled/tracked vehicles that don't fit on roads are impractical.

An amphibious beech landing is taking place, the battleship HMS Lobster bombards the emenies sea defence. The beech is taken, HMS Lobster drives onto the beech and gets five miles down the road (deepending on the terrain), the shelling continues.
A bit like seeing a B-52 flying at 50 feet towards you, you would need a change of underwear!!

Hobbes

More like, HMS Lobster gets stuck in the first sand dune. Or has to wait for a few weeks while the engineers cut a 50 m wide path through the dunes.

McColm

There is always one, to spoil the picture!!
I know it wouldn't work, sometimes you just have to think out of the box.

More like the HMS Lobster has major cost over runs and still cant even float and the engine is severely underpowered and can't handle the road, and the soldier's driving need to have a commercial drivers license when they drive it on the roads. By the way did I mention the ECO Groups complaints that it is nor eco friendly and they are worried about pollution and massive carbon foot print issues, fuel spill issues, and the Bus Drivers Unions are upset that the Solider s driving are non union scab drivers . Need I go On.

The interior shot of that 'Terra Wind' looks marginally larger than my house!

Do the sides translate outwards when it's parked? There's a small forward facing window just to the left of the driver's seat that's not viisble in the mobile views.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yes, there's a slideout section on each side. This is their website:http://www.terrawind.com/terrawind.htm
