the Valiant sprues look even better in real life James, especially when you handle them...not that I'm rubbing it in of course

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Is that the next Airfix club kit i spot too ?!

Nick

Yup, the next Airfix Club kit is the F-86F and Mig-15. Don't ask me what markings!

I found a copy of this in the local Barnes and Noble on Dec. 7th (so took a little longer to make the trip cross the pond) so picked it up.  Of course, the contest for the kits ended on the 6th :banghead: but nevermind.  I finally finished reading the mag and will probably be adding it to my mag buy group.  It is cheaper than most of the other English mags that show up here and liked the content, style and subjects.

So, is the next issue out over there yet?

certainly is phil.

just ask PR-19kit. someone tried buying his copy of issue #2 at the traders fayre at the air museum on december 5th, until kit put them right.

i shall stick with it and without much reluctance am stopping buying SAMI.

IF YER HIT, YER DEAD!!!!

Mossie

I've already done it, I took a years subscription out of SAMI taking advatage of the offer at Telford & haven't renewed it.  I've got a bit bored of it, same style in every article, plus the over commercialisation of it put me off too.

I haven't subscribed to the Airfix mag & I might not as I find with the mixture of articles I'm only interested in a few & I read them quickly so it has a short shelf life.  My plan at the moment is to buy a different mag each month depending on what's in it, altough the Airfix mag is top of the list at the mo.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Army of One

I have to admit I like seeing the reviews/accessories/decals and stuff in SAMI as well as some of the builds......I like the circuits and bumps articles with the old kits being made.....What I don't like is the sometimes bordering on the fanatical rivet counting during articles....!!!! I don't care if a plane is a few inches scale short...!!! I get a different feeling when reading the Airfix magazine.....almost as if the reviewer/builder is talking to me as opposed down at me which is what I feel with SAMI sometimes............

I think it will be one I look at on the shelf before buying. Bit like Mossie in that some of the articles hold no interest for me personally.

I will still keep my subs to SAM, SAMI & MAI and my 2 Wargames mags  because I enjoy them but I'll not be renewing SMMI as I find I'm only reading it to see what's new and I can do that on WH Smiths shelves  ;D

Hehehe, just seen this.  ;D

Yes, I had my copy of #2 with me, and carried it into the show in one of the boxes of stuff I had for sale. I forgot it was there and this guy wanted to buy it!  ;D

I actually like the mag, it's got a good spread of stuff in it and it's not so 'in your face' as the twin SAMs are these days, SAM getting to be almost a clone of SAMI under the newer editor sadly, to my mind anyway.

The fact that Airfix Mag is a generic modelling magazine whereas, of course, SAM/SAMI are aircraft modelling magazines will help it reach the wider audience. Although as said I will be browsing before buying rather then subscribing. It would be nice to see a couple of ship modelling articles in future issues, as I have this "tingling" to build one or two.
