Hi,
Has anyone ever created a V/STOL F-22 in profile, cgi or 3-D model format?
I was thinking along the lines of an F-22 with conformal tanks as well.

I'd put them above the wing, running along the fuselage. Giving the fuselage a wider appearance.

hmmm... I'd prolly say "fat back" conformal tank

from an aesthetic and aerodynamic point of view...

I always thought of adding the CFTs to the sides, incorporating additional space in the side missile bays for another pair of 'Winders & running all the way to the taileron actuators.

But that's just me.

not sure about the side as that would affect supercruising substantially...

If the F-22 had the harrier engine layout, then a conformal tank could be blended into the upper fuselage giving a hump effect. If they were carried on the upper wing surface then, yes they could alter the performance. A larger wing would compensate for this.

Bergra has a profile on his/her pages.

hmmm... problem with using the Harrier engine layout is that the engine will have to be moved forward. Intakes would have to be modified for maximum pressure recovery and inlet flow. Practically sacrifice supersonic cruising for that ability...

with that in mind... the outcome would be less curvy serpentine duck... larger inlet probably top-side mounted... DSI configuration... relocate the sidebays somewhere to accommodate a harrier style exhaust nozzle OR use an X-32 style exhaust nozzle configuration...

regarding conformal tanks, we need to keep in mind area ruling when it comes to supersonic design... well sort of...

There have been supersonic V/STOL aircraft built.
The Yak-141
and the Mirage III V

they had a different engine layout... they have independent turbines for VTOL operations... unlike the harrier with 1 turbine both for VTOL and flight...

anyhow...

enjoy :)
