I gotta chime in with proditor:  The hornet was also one of my favorites from that book.  And looks like you're doin' a fantastic job of putting it together.  Now, what you really need to do is make a master of this sucker, and pop a dozen or so in some resin. . .

Others among us are already looking into something along those lines  ;)

Well I have always wanted to be a professional model maker. I sorta doubt that there is a big enough demand to make it feasable though.

From what I have seen on here Ron your Hornet would be fine as a master for casting when finished. But the size would mean that it would cost a small fortune in terms of rubber and resin. Let alone to buy.

My self and doc yo are looking at a project that would see his 3 fighter masters finished and available in limited numbers.

That would be much more feasable  My monsterous creations would price themselves out of most peoples budgets like most of the cooler limited edition stuff.

Almost have my final shape

The way I see it I need to angle the dark colored part of the intake /wing thingy upwards toward the fuselage to expose more of the lower engine

Also I still have to do the upper gun blisters/fairing and cut out and extend the intakes

Cant you cut back the intake sponson and replace it with plastic card to create the intakes your looking for ?

Doc Yo

Well, I have to say, while I'm reasonably happy with my interpretation of the design, I think you got some of the
details more "right" than I did, the lower 'wing' especially. My version is shorter, and is more like seperate 'gun pack' than a blended feature of the fuselage. ( if that makes a lick of sense )

And yes, thnaks to Martin's good offices, the three fighters should be available sometime in the spring. All
will be around 6~7.5 inches in length.

sotoolslinger

Thanks BBomb
Doc with projects like this there is no definitive answer :o ;) :-\   First off I doubt if the original artist ever did a 3 view or blueprint of the ship  2 with the perspective view Colin painted it lookes like a fisheye lens view of the scene anyway and C:
I figure (and the text confirms) that there were multiple ,evolving , models of each ship (just like real world) + it's all fake ships in make believe situations anyway
However obviously My Version (according to the literature) is definitive  ;D ;)
