Couldn't they have fitted a bigger engine than that puny thing?  ;)

That looks to be a seriously awesome model, looking forward to the finished article.

thatll look sweet as per the original X.15A at rollout in a nice smooth black paint finish or in the later overall natural 'iconel X', a blue/black metallic finish (i guess the paint burned off at high speed/temperature so it was decided to leave it mostly natural? just curious what was the Douglas's airframe to be made from?)

looking toward this one with interest, a very different design in comparisim with the NA. X.15 proposal

happy modelling, cheers, Joe

Looking good so far. Very challenging build - Not for you, but for us mere mortals

Missed this one somehow Dunc, looking good so far....
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Looking REALLY good Duncan, good work there!

It looks like a cross between a Bell X-2 and a Bomarc! And even better than an X-15 actually. (Yes, I know, wash my mouth out with soap etc... ;))

buzzbomb

great job with construction.

Coming along very nicely

Yeah, the Douglas Model 684 rocked!  I think it was even designed to fly faster than North American's design, too bad they didn't pursue it...
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT!!!

Will you leave the cockpit like that, or imitate the glazed parts with paint?

PR19_Kit

Superb, looks even better than the NA version!

And that's a MONSTER engine, looks like it could manage orbit easily!
