So I got so much downtime waiting on paint and putty to dry I figured it was time to start this one

Thanks to Brian Da Basher for the Apollo 27 which is the forward fuselage and my loverly wife for the sacrifice of her turkey basters

If the Hornet and the stingray are anything to go by, this should be good
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

If that's your problem, come down here - I have more than enough jobs (both at work and home) to keep you busy...

Going for the whole set huh? ;)

One good thing with this one is that comes with a drawing as well as a pretty clear picture, which takes some of the guesswork out of interpreting it.
"Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes, and forgot."
 - Sandman: A Midsummer Night's Dream, by Neil Gaiman

"I dunno, I'm making this up as I go."

Well I guess you can call that good   To me the line drawing does not look like the artwork :banghead: But that is ok cause I got a plan ;D

Well it's more useful than some of the TTA line drawings....

I'd say there's two things wrong with the drawing:

1. The back end is wrong. I see a parallel section from the black stripes to the white ones (which you've got in  your model ), followed by a cone, rather than the black spike in the drawing.

2. I think the leading edges of the wings should be curved, approximately the same as the trailing edges, rather than straight, as in the drawing.

I see that but the Hydrogen collectors are also way too far inboard on the wings and the weird little nozzles sticking out the trailing edge of the wings do not seem present in the artwork.

I like the wings on the artwork more. I hope you enlisted the help of the turkey baster after Thanksgiving...

I have to ask:  What is the book you are sourcing these from?

Looks like the start of another great one from the master of "putty fu".

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

The nose is wrong, too-believe me, I know. ;D  Scratching the Shark was a terrific lesson in learning to
actually look at a set of drawings. I should point out that all of McKie's own drawings don't completely
agree-there are subtle differences between this, the best known, and the cover art for "Spacecraft 2000-2100",
where a group of Sharks escorts a much larger ship.
