Hind as an ASR Helo Query

Hey Guys, a Question just struck me now. Has the Hind Ever been Used for ASR(Air Sea Rescue) Duty? i have a Hind Model that's Been in My Stash for a While & Was Unsure About Building it Straight from the Box or What. Think a Hind would Work for the ASR Role? What Say You? Thanks for looking.Dan

Hinds are used in plenty of different second-line roles, especially by the Russians.  They even have police versions, so I don't think a rescue roled bird is that much of a stretch.  Given you've got the crew area in the rear as well, slapping on a rescue hoist doesn't sound too silly.  Reconfigure the pylons for ASR type stores (dinghies, etc - remembering they're also plumbed for tanks) and change the targetting avionics and nose gun into a FLIR & radar system a'la the Pave Hawk & bingo, ASR Hind style.

Yeap in many respects it would make an ideal SAR chopper apart from the door configuration, that would need to be switched to a sliding door configuration.

Another possible use would be in a Forest fire support aircraft, sensor's to to watch fires, comms to coordinate fire bombers, can carry foam or re tardent for fire fighting or alternately a team of fire jumpers.

My next build is a Hind in the CSAR role....it will be mod'd with Puma style sliding doors and a step of some sort....change the sensor suite/optics,maybe some wing fuel tanks,rocket pod n gun pod/fixed gun or a trainable gun??? In flight extendable refuel probe,door gunners and winches.......my vision was for a UK bird with Ka50 Hokum Night Hunters as escort......it will be my next build.....just which one of my stash to use....maybe one of the Zvezda ones and have the twin 23mm as a 25mm bushmaster weapon or something......?
