Cool, seen only yesterday that Appleseed Alpha is available to rent from the local DVD store, looks interesting but I'll track down and watch Appleseed first.

Don't waste your time with the first anime movie (it's VERY simplified), and the later CG version (IIRC, one of the first all-CG-movies) is also IMHO rubbish (storyline is gruesome) and does not come close to the manga - I'd recommend the printed original, anyway. Not certain about the new movie, but what I saw so far it looks promising.

What a great idea.

Very like the art of Ashley Wood. The face is stunning, very lifelike.

Actually, the whole thing is very life-like. The figure is absolutely amazing with the face & the way the clothes hang.

I'd highly recommend the manga - analogue literature rules in this case!

Dark Horse comics released the full four books (plus a thinner source book with sketches/designs etc.), and the manga is a really good SF read (about the volume of a telephone book, though).

All movies so far severely suffer from cramping the original story(s) - or better just elements from them - into a 90 minutes show. That can't work (or simply did not in the case of Appleseed), esp. the characters and the developing scenario from the manga suffer from that pressure.
And, BTW, the manga features one of the most dramatic/lively close combat scene I have ever seen/read, so dynamic that a movie cannot "depict" it properly!

That Zaku head diorama is amazing. The Zeon guys always had a kind of Nazi-ish look to them anyway, and this does a great job of emphasising it subtly. I'm surprised that there aren't more dioramas combining the Bandai U.C. Hardgraph kits, which are in 1/35 scale with RW military subjects.

And I agree about the Appleseed manga too - the first cel-shaded CG movie is pretty good, but the manga wins hands down.

What a beauty...  The vintage Revell kit, with some updates.

Oh yes, that looks very smart, and I love the modernisation bits too.

It's almost impossible to build a bad version of a Seamaster I reckon.

Subtle... but I like the idea (since it looks VERY good!):

So do I but it's SO subtle I can't figure it out.  :banghead:

Viet Nam camo'd Mirage IIIC with an F-106 fin and an extra fairing on the back perhaps?

Thought it was F-106 at first, too - but it's a simple Mirage III, "OOB". Looks SO good, and I can imagine that an all-grey ADC livery would suit her well, too? SPINNERS did one, IIRC?

Wow. Love those last two...especially the Seamaster !
