Do you seriously think that this mesh would add to pedestrian safety...?  ;)
With that badge on the door I can see this as a police car chasing a crook on foot down the street.  :o "I'd stop running but I might get chopped up. How do I surrender"?

The prop up front would be nice in hot weather but a little chilly in the winter!
Something inside me just wants to build this for real, but with better tires.

Tags, registration and insurance would be...interesting to say the least.

It is: the Hélica, designed a century ago by Marcel Leyat:
...
...it could do over 60 mph and weighed less than 300 kilos with two passengers.
But could it go uphill?

Dizzyfugu

That would have only been a matter of power. I wonder how a downhill drive would have ended, AFAIK this thing did not have brakes...

Captain Canada

That's too cool ! Thanks for the info guys.

 I'm not sure where did you get this information, but AFAIK the brakes were integrated in the front (aluminum)wheels to reduce drag - the wheels were designed by Leyat of course ;).
There is an original Helica with standard wheels preserved in France  - one can recognize the drums of the brakes.

Captain Canada

That thing is wild. Must have been ballasted pretty good to stay from flipping !

The search tool finds this Nationstates already resented, but I discovered today new twin-boomers in it:

The second, German-flavoured one is IIRC from "Sky Crawlers" and there is a set of blueprints on t'web somewhere.

They both are  ;) though the first one is not in the anime, only in the game.
