The Beagle made him do it.

Since watching the South Park episode The Entity I can't look at a mono wheel without thinking of Mr Garrison's IT bike.

Hypno-Beagle? Now there's a thought to conjure with... (or not, if Hypno-Beagle doesn't want you to.)

EDIT. I hadn't seen that South Park episode, and now I have seen that bit of it, I can never un-see it. Thanks... :o

If you can whiff-jitsu the backstory to your satisfaction, then the best way to build a model of something like this would be to use a 1/12th scale motorbike front wheel with a 1/48th or 1/56th (28mm) driver. Some of the Tamiya bikes are reasonably cheap nowadays: the XV1000 Virago has a 19" front wheel and the Suzuki Katana has an 18" one. There's probably some kind of trail bike with a 21" front wheel, but it may not be cheap.

Annoyingly, you can't use a 1/35th figure. Doing the maths:

21" wheel scaleorama'd from 1/12th to 1/35th = 5.1 feet diameter, which is a bit too small

but:

21" wheel scaleorama'd from 1/12th to 1/48th = 7 feet diameter  :thumbsup:

Since you're most likely to find a post-apocalyptic bike rider in 28mm wargames scale:

19" wheel scaleorama'd from 1/12th to 1/56th = 7.3 feet diameter
18" wheel scaleorama'd from 1/12th to 1/56th = 6.9 feet diameter
17" wheel scaleorama'd from 1/12th to 1/56th = 6.5 feet diameter

Didn't someone do one of those mono-wheel thingies in the large scale car class at Telford a year or so back?

And they may have won the whole shebang with it too.

How about 1:1 scale;

Using swamp buggy* front tires by the look of it.
* agricultural equipment

Very ingenious, but how the hell do you stop them? I can't see a brake anywhere.  :-\

One of the problems when you try to stop quickly is "gerbilling".

Surely you remember how you stopped your bike many years ago!  In this case, steel heel studs would be a good idea.   I rather like the idea of GERBILLING, but only if I am a spectator at a safe distance.

That's not what Richard Gere said.

Or, you could just stop messing about and go for a Dynasphere:

That thing's MIND boggling!  :o

I can't see it being a whizz in any local stages rally, the turning circle must be measured in miles!
