Single J-57.
Vought had a single engine proposal for the Cutlass at one point.   The little twin tin Toastmaster engines of the Cutlass wouldn't likely be so super in a Super Cutlass.

A J-57 sounds like a good idea.  Powerful and reliable.

BTW:  There any engines that were smaller than the J-57 so you could use two of 'em?  J-73 perhaps?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Clever stuff that, Cutlass meets Sea Vixen etc.

Does it only have one intake, between the two noses, to feed both engines? Having seen how big the intakes were on the 'normal' Cutllass (that statement itself is a laugh.....) I'd have thought there'd never have been enough area for both engines to work, or is there an aux. intake that I haven't noticed somewhere?

Then there was the projected single-engine V-367 penetration fighter for the USAF, the V-371 interceptor w/J67s or J57s, and the derived fighter-bomber model...

Add to that the fact that it looks eminently do-able as a kitbash

Exactly! :)

So do you have one on the stocks already????

Right now I've started mutilating a Playkit Trident fuselage.....

Yes, that's probably the best thing you COULD do with it............ :)

Just an asthetic suggestion- there have been a couple of Cutlass models done in Luft '46 markings...... say, would a hybrid of BV P.215 cockpit and rear guns as well as the rest of the Cutlass fit the theme even better?
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

I'm still deciding on a scheme for my Cutlass, so far the options are 1/ Overall Midnight Blue Korean War USMC , 2/ Some obscure 3rd world country that picked it up dirt cheap when the U.S decided it wasn't so great 3/ Luft '46 Kriegsmarine... errr Kreisgsmarine '46 then!

Jschmus

From the same model site that produced the Shinden/X-wing combo I posted in Scifi whiffs comes this single-tailed F7U variant:

I'd send this person an invite, but my Japanese is non-existent.

That is really nice...and what an evil little eye  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hmm, they're pretty, I like that paint job!  Not unlike the Ford.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Logan Hartke

That's lovely.  I don't think I've ever seen a better looking F7U variant.

Cheers,

Logan

Jschmus,

Nice!  Personally, I prefer the twin-tails better, it looks more exotic and spiffy.  I don't know about you, but you know what would be really awesome to see?  An F4D/F7U hybrid.  You'd have the bubble-cockpit of the F7U, the basic wing-design of the F4D, and the twin-tails of the F7U.
