I had an idea the other day, how about taking the SAMPSON radar that is on the Type 45 destroyer, miniaturize it small enough & fit it on in fighter's radome?

or what about that new AESA radar that is on those new German/Dutch/Danish frigates, miniaturize them too & fit them also on a fighter jet?(One advantage of it would be next to none moving parts)

I know it is kinda silly, but how about using some of those capabilities from those radars & fit them on a fighter jet?

Already done, sort of. The current generation of fighters all use ASEA radars. There are bound to be similarities; not so much in construction but in the software that drives the radar.

Err, just do a quick google on "AESA aircraft radar" and you will see plenty of real examples.

Case in point:  Northrop Grumman AN/APG-81
